Milestones Pathway
 The Milestones Pathway is a structured programme for secondary school children in Key Stage 3 learning French as a second language. It suits learners who may pursue a GCSE in French or want to strengthen skills and enjoy the language. This pathway introduces French immersively and engagingly while following the UK National Curriculum for modern foreign languages. Lessons start mainly in English, with French gradually introduced as pupils gain confidence. The programme adapts to each child’s pace and level, ideal for beginners and those continuing from primary school. Milestones Pathway Highlights: 1. Literacy and Language Development Grow four key skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing. Deepen phonics knowledge, linking French sounds and spelling. Expand vocabulary through practical topics and expressions for everyday communication. Develop grammar: gender, adjective agreement, present tense, negatives, questions, linking ideas. Introduce past and future tenses as proficiency grows. Practise accurate reading and writing, producing sentences and short paragraphs. Explore French-speaking cultures: traditions, daily life, celebrations, perspectives. 2. Age-Appropriate Programme
 The programme is carefully tailored to secondary learners, ensuring smooth progression from primary foundations toward sophisticated writing and critical thinking. Teaching balances academic rigour with flexibility and active learning, keeping tasks challenging yet motivating. Students are encouraged to think, reflect, and engage with topics that resonate with their lives. 3. Engaging, Fun, Contemporary Learning 
Learning is dynamic and interactive. Authentic, contemporary resources keep students actively involved. Activities may include creating a mini video news report or magazine, writing or performing a song, researching information, participating in a debate, listening and translating popular music, reading the news, role play, and real-life scenario tasks. 4. Daily Practice and Weekly Resources
 Short, structured daily tasks keep French active throughout the week, reinforcing vocabulary, grammar, and analytical thinking. Weekly curated resources extend learning beyond the lesson, supporting independent study and deeper cultural exploration. 5. Optimal Session Length
