About Us

We seek to ignite a passion for language and culture, provide a meaningful experience, and help learners achieve excellence in French.

We believe French mastery starts with daily practice and flourishes with expert guidance, a philosophy that shapes the way we teach.

EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

Bonjour, je m’appelle Justine.

I am a native French tutor from the Champagne region with over five years of experience teaching both French and English in London, Paris, and internationally. My teaching is grounded in a genuine passion for language, literature, and human connection. I aim to make French not just a subject to learn, but a culture to experience and enjoy.

I hold a degree in Language and Literature from Sorbonne Université, and have studied at a prestigious Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE) Littéraire. I have worked with students aged 4 to 19 in one-to-one and school settings, consistently helping them achieve strong, lasting results. My lessons are carefully designed to immerse students in the richness of French language and culture—from literature, music, history, cuisine to contemporary life—making learning engaging, relevant, and fun. As an Enhanced DBS-certified tutor with experience supporting learners with various needs, I create a nurturing learning environment where each student feels inspired to develop fluency and a true love for French.

OUR METHOD

Our teaching approach combines six highly effective, evidence-supported methods to help students achieve the best possible outcomes in learning languages. Educational research consistently shows that there is no single “miracle” method for mastering a second language. Instead, the greatest success comes from thoughtfully blending the most effective techniques to support long-term fluency and confidence.

We also believe that tutoring time is incredibly valuable. Each session is carefully designed to ensure students gain the maximum benefit. At the heart of our approach is a simple philosophy: French mastery starts with daily practice and flourishes with expert guidance. By bringing together consistent practice at home with expert tutoring, we help students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in French.

To learn exactly how our approach helps students succeed—read the full breakdown of our method below.

1. IMMERSION AND AUTHENTIC LANGUAGE EXPOSURE

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Native French tutors  - Strategies to ‘live the language’, without leaving London - Exposure to the French culture and language through the use of authentic resources The Outcomes:  - Faster language acquisition - Better listening and comprehension  - Deeper cultural understanding

2. ACTIVE, TASK-BASED LEARNING

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Learners actively participate through action, reflection, and discussion - Pragmatic approach, solving real-world problems - Tutors are a guide rather than a lecturer  The Outcomes: - Meaningful learning, greater engagement - Development of transferable skills, problem-solving and critical-thinking - Better knowledge retention and understanding

3. COMMUNICATION AND INTERACTION

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Focus on social interaction to develop fluency  - Prioritises meaningful communication and fluency over grammar accuracy. - Uses authentic, real-world communication instead of isolated grammar and vocabulary practice The Outcomes: - Enhanced speaking fluency - Greater language comprehension for real-world use - Increased confidence when using the language

4. UNDERSTANDABLE INPUT

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Mimics the way learners naturally acquire their first language when interacting with people who are more proficient (e.g. older siblings, adults, etc.) - Using a level of language slightly above the learner's level - Students concentrate on understanding the message rather than correctness  The Outcomes: - Gradual progression with reduced learning anxiety  - Supports strong, natural language acquisition similar to that of a first language - Expands learners vocabulary and implicitly develops their grammar skills

5. FREQUENT AND SPACED RETRIEVAL THROUGH DAILY PRACTICE

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Learners recall information from memory regularly - working both on short-term and long-term retention - Revision is spread over time  - Completing a short, engaging, targeted task each day of the week (5-20 minutes) The Outcomes: - Enjoyable, efficient learning - Reduced anxiety and the need of cramming in the lead up to exams - Learners gradually master the language

6. PROGRESS TRACKING AND CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK

Method and Outcomes The Method:  - Regular formal and informal assessment  - Sharing specific guidance, praise and suggestions with learners and parents  - Dynamic, responsive, student-centred tutoring  The Outcomes: - Tutoring is tailored to each learner’s needs and goals. - Immediate clarification of misconceptions, preventing learning gaps - Improved learning outcomes and better learner-family-tutor relationship

OUR TUTORING, STEP BY STEP

1 - Initial Consultation

Once your child is registered, the tutoring process begins with a consultation. This can take place in person, by phone, or via video call and usually involves parents, with the learner joining where appropriate. We get to know you and the learner, discuss goals, needs and expectations, and ensure the chosen tutoring pathway is the right fit.
